A doodle of a physical computing project, made in one day with Leroy Tellez to illustrate a little idea we had.
There's currently a lot of interest in the way natural and artifical light affects our sleep patterns. From concern about Seasonal Affective Disorder to wearing glasses that block out blue light. Quite a few of our class use f.lux to reduce the effect of using bright computer screens too late in the evening (and of course, as grad students, we all work too late into the evening).
We prototyped a simple blind that opens when it's sufficently light, and closes when it's dark. The thresholds for each can be manipulated in code.
Built with an Arduino, a stepper motor and a light sensor.
